Figurative paintings are my greatest mental challenge. When they work, they truly feel like significant achievements. Most, if not all of these, began as random mark making that developed a vague form over time, and after a flurry of action, paint and ink flying, a story of some kind emerges. As with most of my artwork, I need huge amounts of implied movement. Preferably, the eye will not rest in a particular spot, but travel constantly around marvelling at the lines and pathways.
